We are pleased to announce that the Ridgewood Concert Band is holding its second annual Youth Soloist Competition in conjunction with the 2007-2008 Season!

ON THE PRIZES
First Place: Solo performance with The Ridgewood Concert Band + $1,000 scholarship award
Second Place:$500 scholarship award
Third Place : $250 scholarship award

In case of a tie, the combined prizes will be equally divided.

ON ELIGIBILITY
The 2007 - 2008 Ridgewood Concert Band Youth Soloist Competition is open to United States citizens and legal non-citizens who are full-time high school students in the United States of America or its territories.

ON THE ENTRY PROCESS
Entering the RCB YSC is a two-step process. Students must submit a signed typewritten letter with applicant’s name, instrument, name of solo piece, address, telephone number, school, grade, e-mail address and a $20 entrance fee (check made payable to Ridgewood Concert Band) postmarked by Friday, December 8, 2007. Students must then submit a recording of their instrument’s solo (see below for suggested list) on audio cassette tape or compact disc postmarked by January 15, 2008. Piano accompaniment is not required.

ON THE COMPETITION PROCESS
The finalists will be chosen by Sunday, January 27, 2008, and will be notified by phone and e-mail, then by mail if necessary. Finals will be held in Bergen County on Sunday, February 24, 2008. The specific location of finals will be posted by February 1, 2008. Please check this Web site (www.ridgewoodband.org) for updates. Accompaniment at auditions and finals is not necessary. The top three winners will be notified and announced in a press release on Monday, February 25, 2008. The first, second, and third place winners will receive their scholarship awards at the Friday, April 4, 2008 concert, in which the first place winner will also perform with the Ridgewood Concert Band.
